Fake Flappy Bird: Malicious!!!

Countless people were depressed when Flappy Bird, the game that went viral after in few days was removed by its creator Dong Nguyen. After the removal of game many substitute games had flooded Apple’s App Store as well as Google Play store.

Astonishment struck the users when they saw Flappy Bird back on the stores. Good news? Here’s the catch it is the fake version of Flappy bird which has been proven to be malicious. The game looks like the exact replica of the original on the surface with same icon and gameplay. The fake apps were trying to corrupt the ability of your device to send text messages to send text’s to premium numbers and rack up the charges.

“All of the fake versions we’ve seen so far are premium service abusers — apps that send messages to premium numbers, thus causing unwanted charges to victims’ phone-billing statements,” security-intelligence blog TrendLabs. Mostly the fake apps were much available in Russian and Vietnamese app markets.

Though not all, but many of the substitutes were too reported to be malicious. Naked security warns Android users to install antivirus or security softwares before downloading any substitute game or fake version of the game into your device.
