Game Over: Flappy Bird to Crash
In past few weeks Flappy Bird, a mobile game for iOS and Android was soaring highest points of fame. Flappy Bird was launched in 2013 by a Vietnam based game creator Dong Nguyen for mobile platforms of iOS and Android devices. In last few days it went to the number one free app on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. It had gone viral on internet after tweets, reviews, memes, trolls and puns.
In the game Flappy Bird you have to navigate a yellow flapping bird through pipes and obstacles by tapping the screen of the phone. It may simple in instructions but you will find yourself long time to complete the game not realizing you are addicted to the game.
Dong Nyuegn had to deal with accusations that Flappy Bird was copied from Super Mario Bros but he as clarified it on Twitter that its nothing related to legal issues It is surprising to the world that such a game is being discontinued. It is said to be making Dong Nyuegn a fortune of ten thousands of dollars per day in ad revenue. The sign of disturbance was shown earlier by Nyuegn on his twitter post dated Feb 4 that stated “Press people are overrating the success of my games. It is something I never want. Please give me peace.” The inevitable news was confirmed on Saturday, 11:02 a.m. PT through his tweet “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.” The news came a day after an update was available for the game.
He again mentioned Flappy Bird in his tweet few hours after the bad news stating “I can call ‘Flappy Bird’ is a success of mine. But it also ruins my simple life. So now I hate it”
